Love Parade or Octoberfest

Posted by Pajagre on Sep 25th, 2006

Berlin hosts the Loveparade every summer starting from 1989. Here are the facts from the previous years, history of the Love Parade.

Do:

- Take breaks and don’t overstress yourself.
- Wear solid footwear, a sun-shield on your head, carry sun block lotion and drink lots of water.

- Please stay on the ground (as opposed to climbing street lights).
- Eat a well-balanced breakfast the day of the parade. Pack some nuts and fruit, bread and cheese - be creative.
- Carry a backpack. You can be well prepared with sun protector cream, bottled water (plastic please!), your camera, food, etc.- make a list!
- Prepare to dance all day. Do some warm-up exercises before- it helps! Have some rest now and then, the park is beautiful (remember though to take care of it!)
- Enjoy the moment. Don’t be in a rush. The parade is there all day and all evening for everyone to enjoy.
- Treat others with the same respect that you expect for yourself.
- The music takes you higher. Dancing makes you higher. Show your love, not drug indulgence. Show your smile, show your body, show your aliveness!

Don’t:

- Don’t use alcohol and drugs. They are bad thirst quenchers. On the contrary, they dry out your body and you run the risk of fainting.
- Don’t buy illegal drugs at the Loveparade. You never know for sure what will be shoved into your hands.
- Don’t stomp on bushes, don’t climb up trees.
- Don’t start fires and keep your fingers off the plants and flowers.
- Don’t bring glass bottles or cans with you. Instead, use plastic bottles.
- There will be portable toilets available, so please don’t … well, you get the point.

It’s the little things about living in Germany

Posted by Pajagre on Sep 25th, 2006

I was thinking this morning as I made a cup of coffe, how much more involved it is over here in Germany.  To have a cup of coffee, you have to first buy filters, then filter the water (because it’s so hard over here that there is what looks like flour floating around in there).

The problem is that if you forget to filter the water in advance, you’ll have a long wait for that cup of coffee.  I hate that.

Get a bullet proof Mercedes

Posted by Pajagre on Sep 25th, 2006

Wow, this is pretty cool (I guess)

Picture of Mercedes all shot upYou can get a Mercedes S500 that will stop attacks from sledgehammer blows and .44 magnum rounds.

The S500 Guard is Mercedes’ first official factory-offered armored car to be available to the U.S. public.
The Factory has fully integrate the armored components into the car.
Specialized technicians are responsible for installing all of the upgraded and armored components. As such, Mercedes says the effectively hand-built S500 Guard takes five times longer to build than a regular S500. Aftermarket security companies often have to start with a regular production car, meaning they have to disassemble the vehicle completely, install the armored components and then put the car back together.

I just want to know what kind of German drug dealer needs this kind of protection!!!

New Audi S3

Posted by Pajagre on Sep 24th, 2006

Dynamism, sportiness and sophistication – the Audi A3 occupies an outstanding position in the premium compact class. Now its top-of-the-range version is ready to go, the new Audi S3 boasting 195 kW (265 bhp) and quattro permanent four-wheel drive. With its sparkling performance it pursues the ideal of pure driving pleasure coupled with excellent everyday practicality – like all Audi S models.

The S3 redefines the standards of its class – at the level of a sports car. It races from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 5.7 seconds, and its forward urge remains unbridled until it reaches 250 km/h. Aggressively hard-hitting, free-revving and with a sonorous acoustic profile, the powerful two-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder unit with FSI petrol direct injection proves to be a smooth, high-performance engine.  continue article

BMW Individual 760 Li: Inspired by Movement

Posted by Pajagre on Sep 24th, 2006

BMW 760The story starts with dark wood and titanium, chairs by Mies van der Rohe and deer’s antlers. These are the fittings that decorate the boutique of watch manufacturer Girard-Perregaux in Gstaad in the Swiss Alps - and these were the source of inspiration for one of the most exciting projects that BMW Individual has ever experienced. Transferring the atmosphere of the room to a BMW 760Li - this was the vision of the President of Girard-Perregaux, Dr. Luigi Macaluso, and the challenge for the designers from the BMW subsidiary that specialises in meeting exclusive requirements.

With the unique vehicle based on a BMW 760Li, BMW Individual is continuing its own success story in a most spectacular way: with an automobile in which the development of a common product has been brilliantly implemented - two brands that have both positioned themselves successfully in the premium segment in the international market. Both combine similar objectives: meeting the toughest demands in terms of precision, quality and aesthetics, realised with complete expertise. BMW Individual and Girard-Perregaux are appealing to the same target group: people who value exclusivity and emotion

Check out the rest of the story and this beast!  I have to own one of these some day!

This is a pretty cool German car site I found today while poking around on the web. I really like  the simple design of the site, and it is well layed out.
