Happy Anniversary SAAB!

aero-germany.jpgSAAB is not a German car, but you can get one in Germany through a Military car sales program.  Besides, we love the way the SAAB looks, it’s a very sharp looking car, and lots of fun on the German Autobahns.

SAAB is offering a special deal on their 9-3 20th Anniversary Aero Convertible.  The new 9-3 has been updated for 2006, with the addition of an Aero model that sports a new 250-hp 2.8-liter turbocharged V-6 with variable valve timing. The car is still plagued by cheap leather, vague steering, and a clunky shifter says Stuart Fowle of automobilemag.com

We love our Saabs! My first one was a 1976 99 GLS. It was so much fun to drive that car on the back roads of Pennsylvania. Built like a little tank with front wheel drive, it got me to the top of my mountain home when the neighbors were walking in the snow.

My second Saab was a beautiful dark grey 900 Turbo. One night, a 200 pound corn fed Pa. white -tail doe ran out in front of me on a rain-slicked highway. There was the usual shock as I heard the metal dropping off the right front bumper and fender, and the gratitude the the deer didn’t go through the front window, but I was most astounded that I didn’t lose control of the vehicle….very impressive.

My third Saab was a 9OOOS hatchback.I loved it and would like them to bring that model back. I got a two seater couch in it! My fourth and current Saab is a 1999 9.5 and I love it for the fuel economy and comfort. Unfortunately, I lost my 2001 900 Convertable to a horrible hail storm in Bavaria, but such is life. I think of looking at other makes of cars, but I always go back to my Swede.
